Hotel Nikko Bali Joining the Annual Bali’s Biggest Clean-Up21 February 2022News
Waste is a significant global issue. Increasing volumes of waste are being generated as the global population and living standards rise.
To ensure the island is free from the increasing volumes of waste, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach has taken action by joining the annual Bali’s Biggest Clean Up organized by One Island One Voice to clean the village sidewalk covering an area of 2,500 meters close to the hotel area and the beach covering an area of 1,700 meters in front of the resort on 20 February 2022. The activity was participated by the hotel’s employees.
“We have involved a maximum of 22 staff due to restrictions during PPKM by the government to reduce crowds and managed to collect 53 kg of recycled and non-recycle waste. Our focus was to collect disposable plastic or well known as a single-use plastic. Even though it is marked as recycled, it’s designed to be collected and recycled appropriately, but it apparently causes the most damage to our communities and environment. I don’t know whether we should be proud or sorry for what we have collected. After we sorted it, we identified the brands on it to be reported to One Island One Voice as the organizer of the event.” Said Masaya Hasebe, General Manager of Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach.
He added “We do hope through our action, those world producers of single-use packaging can reconsider to redesign with earth-friendly materials. The problem won’t get solved unless we all get involved and strive to contribute more to the sustainable environment as our global commitment.”
Furthermore, one of the actions in implementing the Green Practice which aligned with the resort’s sustainability program, Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach is applying water minimization initiatives across the resort by utilizing Reverse Osmosis water as well as a dual flush system.
